The museum participated in the Touch a Truck day in downtown Kennesaw, GA. For more information, click here.
- March 28 Sunday
The museum hosted it's annual class room training session for the train crew. This class is mandantory for volunteers
wanting to be on the train crew. Class starts at 1;30PM. For more information, contact our train operations manager
- February 1 - March 27 : Photo exhibit and competion
- Categories and rules to be announced by Dec 11, 2009.

- Winners to be announced at during Caboose Days event, April 10, 2010
- Download entry form here and submit with each entry. One form per photo, one CD/DVD per photographer.
- April 1 : Museum resumes summer season schedule of Thursday- Saturday, 10am -5pm operation.
- April 8 : Second Thursdays at the museum premieres. The museum education department will offer a program each month on the second Thursday geared towards pre-school aged children.
- Program cost will be $7 per child.
- Program starts at 10:30
- April 10-11 : Caboose Days
- Temporary caboose tattoos

- Craft corner for kids to create a souvenir to take home

- May 6 : Homeschool Open House - Get on board with homeschooling at the Southeastern Railway Museum.
The museum will be hosting an open house for homeschool families.
Homeschool families will enjoy a special admission price of $2 per person.
Children will enjoy doing crafts and a scavenger hunt and parents will learn about our new programs for homeschoolers.
Everyone will enjoy the caboose train ride!
Homeschool families must pre-register with the Museum Education Coordinator to enjoy the special admission price.

In the case of rain, the open house will take place on May 7th.
- May 8 : National Train Day - free train rides during our celebration of National Train Day

Members of our nations armed services, both active & retired, were invited to visit the museum free of charge.
- Renenactors of the Georgia 9th Artillery demonstrated cannon used during the Civil War
May : Teacher Appreciation Month - Teachers with will be admitted free with their employee id badge.
June 5-6 : Locomotive Celebration
The museum celebrates the collection of locomotives... Old and new and in particular the 100th birthday of Savannah & Atlanta #750.
This year's event will also include...
- Celebrate (Savannah & Atlanta) #750's 100th Birthday with Ice Cream and Cookies
- Locomotive Art Activities

June 10 : 2nd Thursday preschool program
This months feature will be Hot Air Balloons courtesy of Daryl Tatum of Balloons Over Georgia
Summer Camp : Theme I've been working on the Railroad
The museum will offer two weeks of summer day camp this year. Hours are 9am - 1pm.
- Registration forms (Here in pdf form) are due July 6.
- Cost is $145 per camper with a $75 deposit due at registration
- Session 1 : June 21 - June 25
- Session 2 : July 12 - July 16
- Age groups from 4 - 10

July 8 : 2nd Thursday preschool program
Tenatively this month's program will include a police car.
Aug 7-8 : Trains, Trucks and Tractors
The museum hosted visiting trucks, tractors and other vehicles to explore and learn about.

September 25 - : Full Speed Ahead Saturdays Full Speeed Ahead has been cancelled for September inorder to allow everyone to enjoy Duluth's Fall Festival.
October 7 - : Homeschool Day 10am - 1pm Harvest 1871
This year the museum is hosting our homeschool day in conjunction with the Duluth History Museum.
Come learn what it was like to be involved in the harvest of 1871, the year the railroad first went through Duluth, GA.
Activities will include:
- Science lesson at the Southeastern Railway Museum at 10:30 and 11:30
- History lesson at the Duluth History Museum at 11am and 12noon
- Crafts
- Touch and Learn Tables
- Story Telling
Pre-registration is required. Addition is $5 per person over age 2. One price includes BOTH museums.

We're sorry, due to low response rates for this event, we cancelled this event for 2010. Please be on the lookout during the summer of 2011 for the 2011 event.
Ages 21 and up; $45 per person includes wine and dinner in the historic diner car, a 1.5 hour ghost tour, and coffee and
dessert.
Come tour the Southeastern Railway Museum's haunted past and enjoy diner in the historic diner.
The tour will take you through our haunted train cars including "The Superb" where President Harding
spent his last days both alive and dead.

- Featuring model railroads of various scales from clubs across metro Atlanta
- G Scale group included exhibiting a live steam engine

- Debuting this year will be the musuem's "Junior Model Railroaders Club"

Santa will arrive by train at 1:30. Bring your camera and get those once in a lifetime photos or take the opportunity to allow our photographer
to take a family photograph at a reasonable price.
December 9 - : 2nd Thursday preschool program
Dec 4, 11, 18: Day with Santa
Plan on joining us for a different experience from previous year's breakfast with Santa.
Plans this year include Breakfast, Lunch and a new Polar Express experience

Dec 6 update - We've sold out two sessions of Polar Express experience and added 2 matinee sessions (3:30 on Dec 11 and 18) to give more folks the opportunity to enjoy it.
Nov 13 update - Ticket sales for Breakfast and Lunch are going quickly.
In order to coordinate with our caterer and plan appropriately, we will cut off ticket sales for Breakfast and Lunch
the day before each event. Please get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!
Totally new and exciting for 2010 is our "Polar Express" experience. Tickets are $20 each and include viewing the movie in a vintage railcar.

N.R.H.S. Meetings:
Two Atlanta Chapter National Railway Historical Society (N.R.H.S.) meetings are scheduled each month. These are not just for chapter members - the general public is welcome.
- The Board of Directors meeting is held on the second Thursday of each month. These meetings start at 7:30 in the museum's audio/visual room in building #1. (Click here for directions to the museum)
- The chapter meeting is held on the fourth Thursday of each month at the museum. Meetings include a brief program and social time
