Help with the Tsunami relief effort

January 4, 2005

The Foster Children’s Foundation (FCF) is helping with the relief effort for the victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami’s that devastated 10 countries surrounding the Indian Ocean on Sunday December 25th, 2004. The human disaster is overwhelming and help is needed to address the basic needs of the citizen in the countries affected by this natural disaster. On Wednesday and Thursday December 29th and 30th 2004 our community took action by collecting and filling boxes with donated goods that filled more than 13 pallets of desperately needed items. These relief items will begin their journey to Asia tomorrow, January 4, 2004 at 9:00AM when they will be picked up by McCollister’s Trucking at the Foundation warehouse to be shipped to the victims in the hardest hit areas. Thanks also to one of the Foundations volunteers, Danny Sequeira who has worked hard to coordinate the process of shipping the items.

Despite the fact that the warehouse at the Clothing Center is filled to capacity, the Foster Children’s Foundation (FCF) will continue the disaster relief effort to help the Tsunami victims with assistance from the City of Duluth and the Southeastern Railway Museum.

Thanks to Duluth Mayor, Shirley Lasseter, and Randy Pirkle of the Southeastern Railway Museum, additional space has been secured for these efforts.

The items can be delivered to The Southeastern Railway Museum at 3595 Peachtree Road, Duluth, GA 30096. The museum is located off Buford Highway ¼ mile North of Pleasant Hill Rd.
