Grants and Gifts Boost Museum's Development
The Southeastern Railway Museum received $11,500 in
grants and gifts during fourth quarter, 1998.
The Gwinnett Foundation awarded the museum a $5,000 grant for
development of the educational exhibits to be housed in newly-renovated
Building One. The Gwinnett Foundation is a public charity created in
1985 to improve community life through increased philanthropy. Funds
donated to the Foundation are invested, with the income disbursed as
grants to nonprofit organizations working directly for community
betterment.
Corporate gifts of $2,000 from BellSouth and $500 from Richport
Properties will also benefit the development of the museum's new site.
A $4,000 grant from an anonymous donor has been designated for the
installation of climate control in the baggage cars housing the museum's
library.
