Volunteering

The Museum is managed and staffed fully by volunteers. Contrary to first impressions, most SRM volunteers have never been involved in any way with railroads prior to joining the museum.

You can get involved in many ways. The museum is looking for people to help with the following:

  • Train crew
  • Group tours
  • Track maintenance
  • Birthday parties
  • Exhibit construction, maintenance, repair
  • Locomotive and railcar mechanical
  • Landscape maintenance
  • Gift shop sales

No matter what your interest, the Southeastern Railway Museum offers you a fulfilling opportunity to get involved with a dedicated group of people trying to share the history of railroads in the south with a new generation.

For more information about how you can get involved, contact the volunteer coordinator, call (770) 476-2013, or just come visit the museum during normal hours and ask about volunteering.  So that we have some basic information about you, we ask that you fill out our volunteer information form located here. (The pdf document opens in a new window so you don't loose your place here)
